Dr. Salman Quddus is a highly accomplished agricultural professional with over a decade of domestic and international experience in weed science, research, and outreach. He holds a PhD in Weeds Ecology from Charles Darwin University, Australia, where he specialized in ecological weed control and disturbed land rehabilitation. His extensive expertise includes managing complex research and development projects, leading teams, and promoting sustainable practices across diverse agricultural environments.

In his current role as Senior Land Services Officer at NSW Local Land Services, Dr. Quddus is responsible for delivering programs that enhance agricultural productivity, improve biosecurity measures, and strengthen emergency response capabilities. He has a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, facilitating effective collaboration between farmers, policymakers, researchers, and local communities. His work ensures that best practices in weed management and sustainable farming are both communicated and implemented across various regions.

Prior to this, Dr. Quddus served as Senior District Weed Officer for the Northern Territory, where he developed comprehensive weed control strategies tailored to the unique challenges of the region. His expertise in integrating scientific research with practical solutions has led to the successful management of invasive species, benefiting both agricultural and natural ecosystems. His ability to engage diverse audiences
including landowners, government agencies, and researchers demonstrates his strength in outreach, education, and capacity building.

Dr. Quddus has also made significant contributions to the academic community. He has published numerous research papers on weed ecology and management and presented his findings at international conferences. His work on invasive species control, particularly in remote and disturbed areas, has been recognized for its innovation and real-world impact.

As the Officer of Communication and Outreach (OC&O) for the International Weed Science Society, Dr. Quddus aims to strengthen the Society’s global outreach efforts by enhancing communication strategies and engaging a wider audience. His goal is to build strong networks within the global weed science community, encourage knowledge sharing, and support the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methods of effective weed management. With his strong background in weed science, leadership in agricultural projects, and dedication to communication, Dr. Quddus is well-positioned to take on the role of OC&O.
